Working as a freelance translator, I spent long hours in front of the computer – not something you could call ideal for your spine or for your body in general. And this, of course, made my neck, shoulders and back ache quite badly. So to alleviate and avoid back problems, it was necessary for me to find the right type of exercise.
Pilates has solved my problem
One day, 10 years back, my neck and back were aching so much after a long day at the computer that I decided to take action and asked a physiotherapist for advice. The advice was: do Pilates. And I did.
First I attended classes but I wanted to be more flexible and exercise whenever I felt like it, do a bit every day. So I looked at the options for having my own little Pilates workouts at home.
I quickly realized that you need the right Pilates equipment / machines and accessories to get the most out of your workouts at home and to feel the benefits for your spine. And after doing some thorough research, I found some equipment and accessories that really made a difference.
Now, years later, I still spend many hours in front of the computer, but I rarely get back, neck or shoulder pain. The regular workout using Pilates machines and accessories has really solved my problem.
Back pain can often be avoided
I think everybody should be aware that you don’t have to put up with back pain but that there are easy ways to fight and avoid pain. Doing Pilates with the right equipment is a perfect way to strengthen your spine and to avoid or alleviate pain. It worked so well for me.
And the nice thing about this is: everybody can do it and everything you need is easily available for everyone. So nobody should suffer with back problems but start with the right sort of exercise. It makes life so much better.
Getting the right Pilates equipment and accessories
It took me some time to find the right selection of Pilates equipment and accessories for me. Not everything worked as well as I had hoped. But I had nobody to ask for advice although I wished there was someone to turn to.
This is why I would like to share some of my experience with using Pilates machines and accessories and doing Pilates at home. Hopefully, this will help you make the right choices when selecting Pilates equipment and exercises so you get the maximum benefits from your Pilates workout.
